GPASS’ mission is the prevention of future DUI offenses through education, therapy and community awareness with a focus on the reduction of recidivism of current DUI offenders. GPASS offers relapse and recovery focused therapy groups and individual counseling as well as sobriety monitoring. All services are available to any members of the community regardless of ability to pay. Sliding fee scales are based on client income, if any.
The mission of the DUI counseling program is to access, educate and counsel those who have been arrested for a DUI offense, and to prevent those individuals from experiencing a reoccurrence of a DUI arrest. The goals for the program include:
-Examination of the hazardous results which occur when combining drinking and driving.
-To help develop plans for handling situations when drinking and driving may be involved.
-To learn adequate refusal skills that will preclude the reoccurrence of arrest.
-To provide clients with an overview of the progression symptoms and effects of alcoholism/chemical dependency
State of the Problem - Substance abuse knows no racial, age, or gender boundaries. The consequences and costs impact our homes, communities, and wallets. Alcohol and drugs are directly connected to poor school performance, high dropout rates, automobile accidents, family violence, poor mental health, lost job productivity and higher insurance costs.
GPASS, a private non-profit corporation, was formed in 1993 by a grass roots coalition of community and substance abuse professionals concerned about substance abuse and related problems. Originally established to provide prevention and education services, the agency has broadened its focus to include outpatient treatment, counseling, intervention, and treatment referrals.
